Indonesia’s Tough Drug Laws and Ongoing Campaigns
Indonesia enforces strict penalties, especially for drug-related crimes, including capital punishment, regardless of nationality. Nigerian citizens have been caught in these harsh legal outcomes, prompting renewed government advocacy and diaspora engagement efforts.
Government Commits to Fair Legal Representation
Dabiri-Erewa stated that while every country has the right to uphold its laws, Nigeria will continue fighting for fair and humane treatment of its citizens in foreign countries. She also advised Nigerians abroad to remain law-abiding and avoid activities that could result in severe consequences.
